Zhang Xinxin stated that since the issue of shortage of diesel fuel is still unclear whether it is a long-term problem or a short-term problem, the internal research of the public will continue. Volkswagen is studying whether the domestic schedule of diesel engines should be postponed. On April 24th this year, after the meeting of the 2008 International Advanced Diesel Engine Technology Symposium, Zhang Yuxin disclosed that Volkswagen is preparing to build a domestic diesel engine production line in China, and it will be completed and put into operation in 2010 at the earliest. Previously, due to oil quality problems, diesel vehicles have been subject to many policy restrictions. There are few followers of diesel cars in China. However, diesel technology is a strong point for the general public and is also a near-term route for its new energy vehicle program. As a result, Volkswagen spared no effort in promoting the development of diesel vehicles and lifting the ban on policies. Volkswagen has set a target to achieve 5% diesel vehicles sales in China in 2010. However, Zhang Xinxin said on that day that due to these uncertain circumstances, the 5% target in 2010 may change.
Volkswagen diesel domestic plans face variable or will be postponed
On July 21, after the publication of the Volkswagen Sustainability Report, Zhang Jianxin, vice president of Volkswagen China, revealed that due to the recent shortage of diesel supply in the domestic market, Volkswagen China is internally analyzing and evaluating the plans for domestic diesel engines that do not need to be changed.
