Hongyan Jieshi 6×4 heavy truck passes 491 km round-trip test
Hongyan Jieshi 6 × 4 heavy truck 491 km round-trip test report
Test time: April 1-2, 2010
Test route: Beijing Changping - Tianjin Hanfu - Beijing Changping
Test model: Hongyan Jieshi 6×4 tractor
Test miles: 491 kilometers (243.1 kilometers + 247.9 kilometers)
Test team members: Wang Yang Shi Wei Ye Chengguang Fan Guanghui
At 21:30 on April 1st, at a freight yard not far from Beijing Geely University in Beijing’s Changping District, the “freight vehicle†test team followed the Hongyan Jieshi 6×4 tractors that participated in the test. Unloading site - Tianjin Dalian Seamless New Mining Co., Ltd., located in Hangu District, Tianjin, drove and began a 20-hour round-trip follow-up test.
The high-grade version of the 380-horsepower Jieshi 6×4 tractor that participated in the test was purchased in November 2009. It has now been put into use for five months and the operating mileage has reached 45,000 kilometers. At this time, the main task of this Jieshi is to transport iron powder from a freight yard in Beijing Changping to the mining company in the Hangu District of Tianjin. The rhythm of transportation is basically a round trip to Beijing and Tianjin every day.
Jieshi heavy truck was officially launched in March 2009. It was jointly developed by Italian Iveco "STRALIS" heavy truck R&D team and Chinese local engineers on the "STRALIS" platform. Combined with Iveco's advanced technology and domestic heavy truck practical experience, most of its use was in use. The technology is synchronized with Europe, and adaptability and improvement of the domestic environment are carried out. The driving comfort, safety, reliability, economical efficiency and electronic level of Jieshi heavy trucks have all reached the domestic leading level.
Jessie "Panorama" cab:
Derived from European descent
As the younger brother of Iveco's "STRALIS" heavy truck, the design of Jessie has a typical European style. It inherits the classic "double V front face" style of the Iveco family, with integrated headlights and front side points. Air guide double deflector, arc high round top design, rounded surface, smooth lines, exudes a strong sense of modernity. The test lion used a burgundy lacquer and was bright and colorful. Because it uses the most advanced international paint technology (currently using the paint line of similar technology, there are only two in the world, Red Rock happens to have one of them), with good texture, high grade, and can effectively resist acid and alkali corrosion. After nearly five months of actual operation, we have seen that the appearance of this lion is still dazzling, and it has unparalleled visual impact in similar models.
As for the cab room, Jieshi has a large space inside the cab, and the maximum height reaches 2.2 meters. The convenience for both passing sex and placing items is greatly improved. The occupants can fully drive in the cab. Upright, effectively reducing fatigue. Since our follow-up test started at night, we had to arrive at the factory before 8 o'clock the next day to unload, and we could not delay the production of the factory. Therefore, one driver must drive, and the other must have a rest at the same time. The wide double-sleeper design of the Jay Lion cab fully guarantees the driver's sleep quality.
In terms of safety, Jessie’s cab body passed a strict European frontal crash test and complied with the EU’s “ECER29†regulatory standards. Its high-strength double-sided galvanized steel sheet is used for the driver's cabin frame and door. Due to the integrated stamping structure and high-precision welding technology, the structure is firm and not easily deformed. The cab design of Jessie’s “Panorama Studio†has given the test team members a broader perspective, which of course makes the driving process safer.
The electronically controlled optimization design of Jieshi is also very successful. Relying on Iveco's mature technology background, Jieshi adopts a multi-functional display instrument panel and CAN-BUS bus. The mature technology makes the engine ECU, body controller, instrument panel, driving recorder, ABS, mirror controller and other 6 Modules have been organically combined. In addition, Jessie is still a rare domestic heavy truck product that uses a traffic recorder as a standard configuration. From the Siemens VDO driving recorder equipped by Jieshi, we can clearly read the vehicle's vehicle information, driver information, real-time speed, mileage, etc., and the instrument will automatically alarm once the continuous driving reaches 4 hours. Prompts the driver to rest. This effectively prevents fatigue driving and guarantees driving safety.

Cursor9 Engine:
Italian-style "fuel-saving" heart
Iveco's Cursor series heavy-duty engines are renowned in Europe. The new Cursor9 engine from SAIC-Fiat Red Rock Powertrain Co., Ltd. (referred to as FPT) is equipped with a common-rail electronically controlled fuel injection technology. The electronic control pump nozzle is BOSCHPDE30-31. The maximum injection pressure up to 1600bar, more than double the normal inline pump; its ECU electronic control unit uses BOSCHMS6.2, can control and adjust the fuel injection and injection pressure. Through the use of a common-rail electronically controlled fuel injection system, the Cursor9 engine can achieve precise timing, quantitative, and constant pressure injection, and the fuel can achieve maximum atomization effects. This not only improves the fuel combustion efficiency, but also makes the combustion process more efficient. It also reduces the emission of harmful substances in the exhaust gas. At the same time, it also makes the internal structure more concise, extending the life of the engine. Because the electronic control system makes the combustion of each cylinder more uniform, the vibration of the engine is effectively reduced.
The two parameters of power and torque are extremely important for the engine. The intake system of the Cursor9 engine adopts FPT turbocharged intercooling technology, which can increase engine power and torque by more than 30% under the condition of rated engine displacement. The technology has greatly increased the air intake density and pressure, resulting in more complete combustion and thus improved fuel efficiency. The application of intercooled technology reduces the intake air temperature and is more conducive to full combustion.
At the beginning of the test, we were also worried about how the 8.709 litre displacement Cursor9 engine could produce 380 horsepower. However, the actual performance of this engine was exceptionally good and it seems to be quite suitable for this heavy-duty transport. Cursor9 has maintained a strong power output during 243.1 kilometers of transportation. This played an important safeguard role for us to arrive on time in the early morning of the next day.
Fast 12-speed gearbox:
Adapt to heavy load comprehensive transport conditions
The Fast 12JS160TA gearbox that Jessie has matched has 12 forward gears, 2 reverse gears, reasonable gear arrangement, and small speed difference. During the entire round-trip testing process, gear shifts are flexible and the synchronization time is short. Under heavy load conditions, the comprehensive transport conditions for this test, whether the highway or the national road, can be fully adapted.
The lion's matching Fast 12JS160TA transmission adopts a full synchronizer structure. The main box adopts a double-tapered locking ring synchronizer with excellent performance. Since the double-cone locking ring synchronizer has the largest friction moment, it has a similar shape. The single-cone synchronizer has nearly 2 times the friction torque, which effectively reduces the shift force, shortens the synchronization time, and ensures that the shift is light. In addition, the special friction materials and special manufacturing processes used in the friction cones ensure the reliability of the synchronizer.
In addition, the double countershaft structure used in this transmission makes the power split, reduces the center distance and the axial dimension, and has a large torque reserve factor, which is beneficial to heavy-duty transportation. Spindle floating, you can eliminate the assembly error on its own, the gear only bears the torque, and then improve the life of gears, shafts, bearings.

Two-stage deceleration welded bridge + multi-leaf spring suspension:
More moderate design
Heavy-load transportation is a big test for the carrying capacity of vehicles. In terms of drive axles, this Jieshi uses a dual-stage deceleration welded bridge, but its rear axle ratio is still slightly smaller for heavy-duty transportation. The double-drilled and welded slow-speed bridge equipped by Hongyan Jieshi maintains the traditional advantages of Hongyan. The overall rigidity is good, and it is strong and durable, with strong bearing capacity and good performance. Its high reliability is ensured by its advanced process manufacturing. Planetary gear gaskets have self-lubrication, low friction, large module of active and passive gears, bearing torque much larger than that of the equivalent drive axle; The self-lubricating wear-resistant gasket effectively extends the maintenance mileage; the wheel positioning uses the mature structure of double nuts and locking plates to make the wheel locking more reliable. However, despite the lighter weight of the bridge, the bearing capacity is not as good as that of a cast bridge. Therefore, the overall performance of the bridge is relatively moderate. In terms of suspension, the front suspension of Jieshi uses 8 leaf springs, and the rear suspension is 12 leaf springs. This type of suspension is designed with greater strength and stronger bearing capacity.
Heavy Vehicle Testing: Changping - Hangu
At 21:30 from Changping, our test vehicle took 6 hours and 48 minutes, and arrived at the destination, Tianjin Hangu, at 4:18am the next day. The data we obtained with the test instrument was: The average moving speed was 35.7 km/h, and the maximum speed was 59.9 km/h. Since it was nighttime driving and the cargo was iron powder, our test speed was not fast, and we felt more about the power, reliability, and ride comfort of the Jay Lion vehicle. As domestic high-end truck tractors, many of Jay Lion's high-end configurations are not available in other models, such as driving recorders. This also brings a lot of convenience to the test.
In response to the comprehensive test of the expressway plus the national roads and urban roads, the heavy-duty transportation performance of Jieshi Heavy Duty Truck made the test team very satisfied. Jessie has achieved a good balance in terms of dynamics, fuel consumption, comfort, and reliability under comprehensive conditions.
Empty Return: Hangu - Changping
At 8:30 the next day, the factory began production. Our test vehicle, Jieshi, first entered the factory to unload cargo. After an hour and a half of unloading, we began emptying and returning to Changping. Since the return route selected different routes, the test team could experience the performance of this lion in more complex road conditions. Since the return trip was empty, according to the instrument record, our average speed reached 49.6 km/h, and the maximum speed reached 97.4 km/h. The corresponding fuel consumption level is also kept at a very low standard. The resilience of this lion is still very strong, and the performance under complex road conditions remains very stable.
