International Business Machines Corporation IBM launched a new e-mail application for corporate users on Tuesday that integrates social media, file sharing, and analysis to understand user behavior and predict interactions with colleagues. The application is IBM's attempt to move from the company's hardware services to software services, the focus of which is shifting to the cloud computing and data analysis part. The new email service, called IBM Verse, includes a built-in personal assistant. It also allows users to view the relationships between different employees, emails, silent chains and search attachments.
The e-mail interface is the most frequently contacted by users. It has a schedule and task list to facilitate user access. Jeff Sigg, senior manager of IBM's social solutions, told reporters: "From our perspective, this is to change e-mail rather than just improving." IBM's corporate e-mail service will connect companies to 25,000 companies worldwide and More than 50,000 use IBM's business social platforms. The free initial model will include limited mailbox capacity and file sharing. The paid version that will be launched in January 2015 will have more features and data.
