The Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau organized a review of the Sichuan Province Climate Center's “Report on the Location of Supplementary Observing Stations for Wind Energy Resources in Sichuan Province” to identify Huili, Huidong, Xide, Yanyuan, and Dezhou in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. There are six wind measuring towers to be built in the west of Changhe. According to experts, wind measuring towers are wind speed and wind direction sensors and wind data recorders. They are instruments used to measure wind energy parameters. It is reported that the six wind towers to be constructed will be selected based on sufficient location, reasonable geographical location and certain representativeness, and suitable for conducting wind resource observations. The review panel will do a good job in related preparatory work and speed up the progress of supplemental construction of wind measuring towers to provide support for wind power development in Sichuan Province.

Wind power development and construction in our province has started. Yesterday, the reporter learned from the Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau that the Provincial Meteorological Administration has completed the review of the “Report on the Location of the Supplementary Observing Station for Wind Energy Resources in Sichuan Province” and determined to build six wind measuring towers in Liangshan Prefecture.

According to the Sichuan Provincial Climate Center's “Report on the Location of Supplementary Observing Stations for Sichuan Wind Energy Resources”, six wind measuring towers are located in Huili, Huidong, Xide, Yanyuan, Dechang and Yuexi. The wind tower is generally 70-120 meters high. It not only installs wind speed and wind direction sensors and wind data recorders, but also can obtain weather data such as temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Because the wind tower is thin and tall, it is vulnerable to lightning strikes. Therefore, it is necessary to withstand the lightning protection of the lightning rod.

Provincial Climate Center staff said that the wind tower will obtain first-hand information on wind energy resources in the region, providing data support for wind power development in the province. The location of the 6 wind towers has been assessed by geographical location and is representative of the wind power conditions on the plateau. It is suitable for observation of wind resources. In the next step, the wind tower will begin construction and wind observation data will be obtained. Once the "wind measurement" is successful, our province will be expected to start construction of wind power stations.
