The reporter learned on October 18, 2011 that according to the American Automobile News report, Cummins needs to increase up to 7,000 employees in the next five years to meet the anticipated demand.

When Cummins expects market sales to reach 2015, overall growth will increase by more than 60%, mainly because more diesel and natural gas engines are needed globally. Market growth is expected to come mainly from developing countries such as South America, China and India. In the next 10 years, Cummins's development direction will mainly focus on reducing engine emission pollution and meeting more stringent fuel efficiency regulations on a global scale. These measures will promote engine technology and development, and require more technical resources and employee support.

A Cummins spokesperson said that the company uses its engineering expertise, especially in emerging markets, to research and develop cleaner internal combustion engine technologies that allow them to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
