Last year, the European Biodiesel Committee filed two anti-dumping and countervailing appeals with the European Commission on the issue of biodiesel from the United States. The European Commission subsequently initiated an anti-dumping investigation procedure and found that U.S.-produced diesel was dumped at a price below the production value in the European Union and received U.S. government subsidies. The European Commission began to impose temporary anti-dumping and countervailing duties on biodiesel imported from the United States in March.
The European Union will impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on biodiesel from the United States today
The finance ministers of EU member states recently decided to impose a five-year anti-dumping and countervailing duties on biodiesel imported from the United States from that day on. The European Union decided to impose an anti-dumping tax of 68.6 to 198 euros per tonne on biodiesel originating in the United States, and a countervailing duty of 211.2 to 237 euros per tonne.
