The two ro-ro ships were built by the Jinling Shipyard for Toll Shipping in Australia and will be responsible for transportation between Port Bernie, Tasmania and Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

WE DriveTM permanent magnet shaft generators provide optimum mission point operation at all speeds. This will save several tons of fuel and thus reduce harmful emissions to the environment.

It is reported that the WE DriveTM permanent magnet shaft generator will help the main engine to shift speed when connected with the shaft generator, which can generate 3400 kW of power to the ship's power grid. The permanent magnet shaft generator also effectively distributes power to the bow thruster.

Ships can also save fuel in Hong Kong. The permanent magnet shaft generator will provide up to 3000 kW of cleaner and cheaper shore power to the ship's grid and further reduce the need to use auxiliary generators.

The two new ro-ro ships will be operational by the end of 2018 and will replace the existing ships of Toll Shipping. The delivery of permanent magnet shaft generators will begin in August 2017.
