On September 19, 2015, the 11th China (Liangshan) Special Purpose Vehicle Exhibition closed in Liangshan County, Shandong Province on the 19th. Experts stated at the special auto industry development forum held during the exhibition that the special vehicle market in China has a promising development prospect. 
It is understood that special-purpose vehicles refer to special-purpose equipment and have special functions for undertaking special transportation tasks or special operations and other special-purpose vehicles.
According to Liu Ming, head of the Automotive Industry Information Division of the Information Resource Development Department of the National Information Center, the special vehicle market in China has developed rapidly over the past 15 years. The structure of the vehicles has been diversified and segmented, and the total volume has grown rapidly. The output value of modified vehicles related to special vehicles increased from 35.27 billion yuan in 2000 to 196.51 billion yuan in 2013. According to data from the Special Automobile Branch of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, as of the end of July this year, there were 1037 special-purpose vehicle manufacturers in China and 806 enterprises in production.
According to experts’ analysis, the structural adjustment of the special-purpose vehicle industry declined in the first half of the year, and the engineering-specific vehicles suffered the most serious decline. Although the transport vehicles had a certain degree of decline, they generally stabilized, and the transportation was driven by the rapid development of the domestic logistics industry. Vehicles are still in a healthy rising trend.
Wang Huanmin, secretary general of the Special Automobile Branch of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said at the forum that the rapid growth of the special-purpose vehicle industry and the growth rate of GDP after the “Golden Decade†basically met a highly positive correlation, and economic growth was the fundamental driving force for the growth of demand for specialty vehicles.
Experts generally believe that China is currently in the stage of development from the coarse to the fine division of specialization. According to the latest economic classification of the National Bureau of Statistics, China's economic industry has reached 20 mega-categories, nearly 100 major categories, and more than 1,000 sub-categories. The increase in the degree of specialization in economic development will promote the demand for special vehicles.
At the same time, an important feature that will accompany future economic development will be the shortage of cheap labor and rising wages, which will accelerate the substitution of special vehicles for labor and provide ample space for the demand for special vehicles.
Wang Huanmin said that the current enthusiasm for investing in special vehicles in various provinces and cities is still high, and high growth has attracted a large inflow of capital. Under the market reality that the market capacity is becoming saturated and the incremental space is gradually decreasing, the competition of enterprises will also change from "race race" to "knock-out match".
